A few years ago, my sister decided she wanted to do a “girls only” weekend for her birthday. I didn’t even think twice!
#1 It was my sister’s birthday.
#2 It was NYC.
#3 It was girls only. (no kids…yay!)
We had an amazing time! Shopping, eating, Broadway, and drinking! Who wouldn’t love it?
We went to a few bars and tried the local concoctions. One drink was by far our favorite drink of the weekend…The West Side Cocktail. We went to Employees Only in New York City where Jason Kosmas (partner and principal bartender) was the creator of this yummy cocktail.
It’s kind of like a mojito with slight variations. There’s vodka instead of rum. The West Side has lemon instead of lime and it’s sweeter than a mojito as well.
Since that trip, I’ve been searching for The West Side on bar menus everywhere I go, but no such luck. That’s why learning how to make it was my only option.
It really is very easy! Pour citrus vodka, lemon juice, and simple syrup into a

Add mint and ice and shake vigorously.
Strain into a chilled martini glass and top it off with club soda. THAT’S IT!
