I have been on the hunt for a bar for my house. Until now, the alcohol and wine in my house was located on my kitchen counter. I couldn’t stand the clutter and not to mention it just kept growing!
The search for the perfect bar was endless. I searched high and low. Went to many stores, visited their online sites, and either couldn’t find anything that I liked, or only found expensive bars. Of course, then the search went to Pinterest. I saw pins of old dressers turned into bars, using buffet tables to store the drinks, or hanging shelves. All nice ideas, but not what I was looking for. I had gone on IKEA’s website countless times, searching for bars. Nothing. Then I realized what IKEA does best: repurpose items. You know, like using a flower pot for makeup brushes or a tall vase as a fish bowl.
That’s when I came across the IKEA products in the Expedit collection. They are bookshelves with square openings. I figured I could site it on it’s side to make it a bar. I then purchased wine glass racks and screwed them into two of the openings. It was perfect! I even got one of those decorative little lamps that are a bit funky for the top and a rectangle vase to hold my wine corks (just until I figure out what I’m going to do with them!).
I honestly thought that I would have too many squares open, turns out I have more bar ware and alcohol than I thought!
What do you think?
In total, I spent around $100. That’s a far cry from a bar I wanted from another furniture store that was $400! Such a deal!
Have you ever used IKEA products in a different way in your house?
