School is out and my normally quiet and undisturbed routine has been taken over by boys. The first few days of their new found freedom were spent sleeping in and catching up on their favorite shows. Now the kids are already saying “I’m bored” after only a week of vacation! I’m EXHAUSTED! Why can’t they just figure out something to do? You know, be useful and help with the laundry or at the very least clean their rooms and make their beds…. jeesh.
Needless to say, like all other moms out there, I’m always searching for things to do with my boys that won’t necessarily break the bank. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a clown or here to entertain my kids all day every day, but planning at least 3 activities a week won’t kill me! (And will stop me from killing them.)
Fun Summer Activities for Kids in Miami (that won’t break the bank):
Sunday Farmers Market at Sunset Place: South Miami has a new spot to pick-up fresh food every Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunset Place’s new farmers market, located at the Sunset Drive entry plaza, features dozens of local vendors and includes organic produce, baked goods, jams, jellies and more.
$1 Movies: See kids’ movies for $1 on Tuesdays & Wednesdays at Regal Cinemas. This is a great way to beat the heat & eat some popcorn!
“Dive In” Movies at Grapeland Waterpark: Watch family favorites while enjoying the water park on select Fridays this summer for $5 at Grapeland Waterpark.
Summer Recess (June 25th): Families can escape the heat on June 25th from 2 to 5 p.m. for a day of music, shopping, games and arts & crafts sponsored by GameTime.
Bowl for FREE: Yes, bowling for FREE! Register your kids to receive weekly coupons for free bowling. We’ve been participating in this for about 3 years now. It’s a great way to get out of the house and kill a few hours!
Roller Skating for FREE: We LOVE to roller skate in this house! This summer, for kids 11 & under, kids skate free on Fridays and Saturday mornings. Why not take advantage?
Beach: There’s always the beach for refreshing FREE fun! We are lucky enough to live where other people vacation, why not take advantage of it! Our favorite spot is to head to Key Biscayne. There’s a great area where dogs are welcomed too!
Back to School Send-Off: Sunset Place is hosting one last hurrah over tax-free weekend on August 6thfrom 1 to 4 p.m., giving shoppers the opportunity to save money on back-to-school necessities. The event will conclude Sunset Place’s Summer Music Series, and customers will enjoy special discounts and product sampling from merchants.
And don’t forget about the Summer Savings Pass! You get unlimited admission to Lion Country Safari, Miami Seaquarium, Museum of Discovery & Science and Zoo Miami for one low price between May & September. Such a great deal!
