I’ve mentioned before that for a fun-filled and reasonably priced vacation for a family is to take a cruise. Not only are all of your meals included, but you only have to unpack once & your family can experience different places.
Carnival Cruise Lines not only added Camp Ocean, but also a new component for family fun aboard the Carnival Freedom is Seuss at Sea.
The whimsical & fun rhymes of Dr. Seuss are a fun addition to Carnival and furthers it’s status as the “Fun Ship.” Children of all ages can participate in the many Dr. Seuss themed activities, but children ages 2-5 are the most intrigued by the Cat in the Hat, Sam I Am, and Things 1 & 2.
On our recent trip aboard the Carnival Freedom, we were able to experience all that Seuss at Sea has to offer. From the Seuss-a-palooza parade and storytime to Dr. Seuss’ Bookville to the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast with The Cat in the Hat and Friends, we had a “magical fantastical” time!
Dr. Seuss’ Bookville is a unique Seuss-themed reading and play space featuring iconic décor, colors, shapes and funky furniture inspired by the world of Dr. Seuss. Families and readers of all ages are invited to enjoy Dr. Seuss books with their little one. There are also other family-fun activities including toys and games.
The Seuss-a-palooza Parade was a wonderful treat! Guests were invited to join Dr. Seuss characters in a swirly conga line along the Promenade of the ship. The kids were donned with fun props and noise makers in order to encourage all they passed to join the fun.
Story time with Dr. Seuss aboard a Carnival cruise is unlike any you can experience on land. Once the parade ended, the guests were treated to a special reading from the Dr. Seuss’s library, complete with character appearances and participation from audience members, young and old. It was so fun getting to see cruisers participate in the fun!
A truly fantastical feast was presented at the Green Eggs and Ham, a Breakfast with the Cat in the Hat and Friends. Bright colors and patterns decorated the tables, featuring fun and unique menus. We feasted on such treats as “Green Eggs and Ham,” brightly colored fruit, gravity-defying pancake stacks, funky french toast, blue yogurt with strawberries, “Moose Juice” ‘n’ “Goose Juice”… and much more. (Don’t worry…classic breakfast dishes are also available.) We were also able to meet and greet the stars of Dr. Seuss — the characters came around for special photos and fun interactions, making it a meal to remember.
We had a wonderful time aboard the Carnival Freedom and the addition of Seuss at Sea made the experience that much more fun! Believe me, your kids will love it too!
Disclosure: This trip was part of a Carnival Cruise Lines media press trip. As always, all our thoughts, opinions and statements are our own.
That is so cool that even celebrate on the cruise!! We are huge Seuss fans in our house!
This looks super fun! A cruise is on our to do list!
What a fabulous treat for the kids! The best kind of edutainment!
I share a birthday with Dr. Seuss so I absolutely love this. I bet you had so much fun!
We did! You should book a cruise on your mutual birthday next year! Ha!2
We sailed on carnival triumph in February 2017 and suess at sea was offered. It was fun but not really a game changer. In all the extra activities added up to maybe an extra 4 hours of activities to do on a 5 day cruise. Fun but in my opinion a little over rated. I do agree that the green eggs and ham breakfast is fun and it’s only $5 per person. It reminds me of a character meal at Walt Disney world
