There is nothing more relaxing than a day at the spa! Putting your feet up while you wear a warm robe and slippers, letting people give you massages and foot rubs. Maybe even a facial or manicure and pedicure. If you’re really lucky, you get it all! Spa days should be mandatory in life. There should really be a law saying that you have to have a day at the spa with your spouse, your friends, or even by yourself at least 3 times a year! Wouldn’t that be awesome?
This past Christmas, my mother-in-law gave me a day at the spa. BEST. GIFT. EVER. My sister-in-law went together to The Ritz-Carlton Spa Key Biscayne here in South Florida for a day of much needed relaxation and pampering. It was HEAVEN! First off, it was The Ritz. Need I say more?
Walking into the grand hotel makes you feel like royalty. Everyone is so friendly and ready to help you in any way they can. We walked through the grand hallways and were led to a secluded sanctuary where the spa is nestled. We were quickly greeted by name and taken to the women’s locker room where we donned comfy white robes and slippers. I was more than happy to turn my phone off for the day and listen to the calming sounds of the “acoustic spa music.”
I chose the Pina-Colada Massage, a special for Miami Spa Month. It just sounded so nice. (Ok, maybe I was secretly hoping that while getting a massage I would be sipping on those coconut-y concoctions…a girl can dream can’t she?)
After getting a sugar scrub and a brushing of my body, I was immersed into a hot shower. Then the massage began. AAAHHHHH! With every movement, I could feel all of my tension and stress melt away. It was so relaxing! And don’t even get me started on the foot and scalp rub….OMG!
After my hour of complete bliss, I met my sister-in-law in a quite area where we decompressed from all of the relaxing. We then went into the wet area where we enjoyed a steam, a dip in the hot tub, and some time in the sauna. Even though we are used to living in a “sauna” here in Miami, it was nice to voluntarily release the toxins and sweat for a while.
Although we could have stayed all day and night at the spa, our stomachs wanted food. So we headed to a quiet lunch Cioppino, a restaurant within The Ritz-Carlton. It was a perfect end to a perfect day! Everything was so perfect, I can’t wait to go back again! (Can someone please tell my husband??)
