Technology is a way of life in my family. From iPods to iPads to XBox 360 to Nintendo 3DS, my kids are pretty well connected. We don’t allow them to play 24/7, but they are able to unwind with a game of some sort on their technology of choice. After all, I’m addicted to my own games on my iPad….
Luckily there is a popular kids’ game that is back on Nintendo 3DS just in time for the holidays! The franchise that has sold over 23 million units worldwide is back and more interactive than ever. Petz fans will embark on the ultimate adventure in Petz Beach for Nintendo 3DS, where players can care for a variety of dogs, complete quests to expand their village and connect with other Petz owners.
We recently got the chance to preview Petz Beach for Nintendo 3DS. I can honestly say that I was just as excited as my kids. I love those virtual reality type games! C’mon, one of my favorite games has me “baking” goodies for restaurant goers!
When first putting the game into the console, you are on a train traveling to the beach town where you will “live” and care for your Petz. You give yourself a name and also name the town after meeting with the Mayor. The Mayor also helps you learn the new steps throughout the game. Throughout the game, you meet different neighbors around the town and get a chance to talk with them and complete various missions for them.
The game expands as you play. As you explore the town and meet new neighbors with your pets, the game expands and grows. Helping new friends with different missions will expand the village as the game progresses. It’s actually quite addictive…you want to keep wandering around the area asking neighbors for missions so that you can get more points or gifts. Not to mention having your pet find new items around town to trade in for rewards. You also have to continually make sure all of your pets are in their best condition throughout, so you need to make sure you have enough supplies for him/her.
There are more than 50 different types of animals in the game from dogs and cats, to dolphins and whales, so there is somethingg for everyone! Because the environment in the game changes with the seasons, the adventure can last all year long.
Through its partnership with Encyclopaedia Britannica, Petz Beach incorporates learning along the way also. As kids care for their pets and complete missions, they’ll learn facts about animals, plants and insects!
Not only is Petz Beach available for Nintendo 3DS, but there is also another game with the same fun experience in a different environment: Petz Countryside. Can’t wait to try this one too!
