I drank from the Stitch Fix “Kool-Aide!”
I LOVE to shop…this is not a personality trait that I try to hide. My husband has finally realized that I don’t even really have to shop for myself…I just like the act of shopping. Want a new shirt, I’m on it. Need a toothbrush, I got it. Going camping and you’re not inviting me but need necessities, I’m your girl. The physical act of going out, picking stuff out and paying for it is an addiction of mine. (I even like going to Home Depot…)
So even though I love to shop, and I LOVE shopping for myself the most, I get stuck in a rut when I look at clothes. I seem to buy myself the same kinds of clothes and I don’t venture out in my style. Enter StitchFix.
I’ve been receiving a Stitch Fix box for about 6 months now. Your box of fashion is called a “Fix“…you know, like when you’re addicted to drugs. And let me tell you, getting my shipment every month is like a drug. My heart races when I know a Fix is about to arrive, I start to sweat with anticipation as I open the box, and I am in euphoria when I see the new items that I’m about to try on.
I haven’t posted about my experiences yet because, let’s face it, I’ve been too lazy to take the pictures…LOL! Well, I finally had my professional photographer “Little Ricky” snap some photos of me wearing some of my favs from Fixes of time gone by. (Don’t mind if some of the images are blurry…he’s only 11.)
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, here’s a little about Stitch Fix:
StitchFix is a monthly styling subscription service. When you sign up, you fill out your style file survey answering HONEST questions about your sizes, your style, and pricing preferences, and then your personal stylist sends you 5 items to try once a every 2-3 weeks, every month, every other month, every 3 months or on demand. (I do once a month right now…will tailor back later…maybe) The fee for this service is $20 a Fix, and that includes free shipping and free returns. And if you keep any of the items they send you, you get to deduct the $20 fee from the total. (If you keep all five items, you also get a 25% discount!)
I was EXTREMELY honest and descriptive with my stylist so that the items would best suit me. I also have a Pinterest board where I share style suggestions for my stylist…sometimes they even send the exact item! My items are reflective of my style and price preferences, so if you sign up, your Stitch Fix may be completely different than mine.
Let’s get into my FAVORITES of the MANY items that I’ve received:
First up is my ALL TIME fav…the beaded halter tank from Brixon Ivy that I wore to celebrate my 40th with the girls. It’s a cream color with silver, pewter and gold beading around the neck. The cut of the halter is so flattering! I can’t stand my arms, but this top made me feel FIERCE! (Perfect for my 40th celebration!)
Next up is the BlankNYC faux leather jacket. Living in Miami, we only have about 2 weeks where we are freezing, the other times we feel cooler when it drops to 60º at night (sometimes), so a heavy leather jacket isn’t necessary. That’s why I loved this jacket: it’s light, but sleek. The faux suede flowing opening adds a fun touch. The inside of the sleeves (shown in the bottom photo) is like a sweatshirt…helps to add a little give.
This turquoise halter (are you beginning to see a pattern here?) from Papermoon: Exclusive for Stitch Fix was an immediate love! It’s a silk material with a braided pattern on the neckline. I love that it flows to hide the “problem areas.” Love dressing this up with jeans and heels or dressing it down with shorts and sandals.
In my latest Fix, I received this checkered tank from Daniel Rainn. I had asked my stylist for tops that can easily be worn to work, play or a night out. This one delivered. I’ve already paired it with jeans, shorts, and dressy pants for work. (BTW….the shoes are from Stitch Fix too…they are Steve Maddens. Would never pick white for myself, but that’s what I love about this program…my stylist picks things I wouldn’t usually!)
Ok, I’ll be honest. I haven’t actually worn this dress from THML yet, but I can’t wait to wear it! It’s halter (my fav), cut low (another fav), and has a great white and yellow embroidered design on the neck and hem. And I can pair it with the Steve Madden sandals! I feel like I should go watch croquet or something….
These plum pants from Margaret M are another obsession of mine! They are called “slimming pants” and they are stretchy, have an open waist (no buttons or zippers) and are a fun color and pattern. Not to mention they are a perfect fit for my tiny little legs!
This blue laced top from Brixon Ivy is perfect for date night (when I actually get one)! The same detail is on the back as well, I just didn’t get a photo of it. This top would pair well with a skirt, pants or jeans.
