Organization is something that I love and hate equally. I have a need to be completely organized, but my pure exhaustion keeps me from being that “June Cleaver” mom. Even though my kitchen is more organized, I would still like my counters clean 100% of the time.
I work from home mostly. That means I have to use a home office. A home office is what it’s supposed to be, but it’s more like a “junk room.”
I have all the best intentions of having a clean and organized space where I can work quietly surrounded by my favorite colors and inspirations. Unfortunately, it looks like a bomb has gone off in the room! There is literally stuff EVERYWHERE! It drives me crazy. So, instead of organizing it each week, I close the door and ignore it. Then I move my laptop to the bar area in my kitchen or to my dining room table.
NOT ANYMORE! I’m determined to get my space back. Of course, I went to Pinterest to check out what amazing things other people were doing with organizing their home offices.
Clever Organization Tips for Your Home Office
First off, the top of my desk is out of control! I have the best intentions to keep it organized, but it always tends to just collect stuff. I’m loving the way that Toni from A Bowl Full of Lemons organized her desktop with these great boxes and buckets. Everything is put away, but still accessible.
We ALL have empty pasta and cereal boxes! Check out how Jen from I Heart Organizing used these recycled boxes to create drawer organizers. GENIUS! I have really deep drawers in my desk. This is a perfect way to keep it all in check. She explains that cutting old boxes and covering them with fun cardstock paper will help you stay organized and be cute at the same time!
The paper clutter on my desk is my biggest problem. I have 2 filing cabinets and yet I seem to have a tremendous amount of clutter still laying around. Why? Haley at Design Improvised has great tips for organizing your paper clutter. Using letter boxes, file folders, and binders (all coordinating of course!) help to keep the clutter off the desk and in its place. Let’s see if I follow through…
Do you have an endless amount of receipts lying around? I do…especially when I’m trying to hide them from my husband. I’m digging this jar for receipts idea from All You. At least they’ll all be in one place and not hiding under things on my desk! (Get the jar here.)
I have a TON of crafting items in my office as well. I love crafting, especially with my Cricut. I need great ideas on how to organize my vinyl, cardstock, HTV, glitter, etc. But that’s another post entirely….
Now if I could only motivate myself to go in there and organize!
