I keep score. I cheer for my “all-stars.”

I can tell you the coolest cleats and where to buy them. My car is full of gear and folding chairs. There is a constant pile of clay in my garage from when the boys take off their cleats. And don’t even get me started on finding athletic cups next to the kitchen sink.

The only thing I hate about being a baseball mom is cleaning their clay-stained pants. There’s something about those lingering spots on the knees of their white pants that irk me. My husband tells me to get over it, that it’s just proof that they get “down and dirty” with the game. I’m all for “throwing yourself into the game” but I want them to start every game looking as sharp as they can. Maybe I’m crazy, but I can’t help it.

 

I have tried so many ways to get the clay out. I’ve used straight hydrogen peroxide, various sprays and rubs, brushes…you name it. Bleach alone makes the orange clay become yellowish. It’s very frustrating.

How to Clean Baseball Pants:

1. Lay the pants flat.
2. Pour Purex^®plus Clorox 2^® detergent on the knee stains and let it soak while getting the rest of the laundry ready. (About 5 mins.)
3. Before placing the baseball pants in the washer, rub the two spots together.
4. Pour a cap full of Purex^®plus Clorox 2^® detergent in the washer and run your cycle.
5. I’m a lover of bleach! Therefore, using Clorox® with the white pants will deliver even better results.
6. Clean baseball pants!
